Laptop HDD Compatibilities

June 2nd, 2011, 12:18

I have a broken Toshiba HDD MK3265GSX and I was looking for another hdd for my laptop and I found a Toshiba MK3259GSX...

I don't know about HDD but they look like the same...
But before I buy it, I really want to make sure that It's compatible with my laptop and I know you guys can help me  ...
and maybe can explain how work those compatibilities...

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron M5010 if that help with anything :)

Thanks in advance!

If we are not looking at this from a data recovery perspective, any 2.5" drive should work in your laptop. Just put the new drive in the laptop, put in a Windows OS DVD and load an OS.

Sorry...yes the connectors do need to match. If the old drive was PATA/IDE then the new drive needs to be the same. If the old drive was SATA, then the new drive must be SATA.
