*.CHK file cannot be recovered

June 23rd, 2011, 13:59

Hi. i have CF card 4Gb from a camera which was recovered with Atola and got the data as *.CHK
i tried a couple of programs like UnCHK (Eric Phelps) and recovered the photos as *.EXIF
The problem is that i cannot recover the whole photo but just the 3/5 of it. i have attached a *.CHK file
thank you in advance for any suggestions

The file you attached contains the end of one jpg followed by most of another one. My guess is that the next .chk file after this one would contain the end of this photo followed by some part of the next one.

You might produce easier results by just doing a raw scan for jpgs. If the data is still contiguous on the medium then it should work well to carve the jpgs.
