Maxtor STM31000340AS "clicks" and Bios recognizes it looong

June 27th, 2011, 6:01

Hello,

I am new here so hi to everyone.

I got a problem with Maxtor STM31000340AS.

It was working in Mac and 1 day stopped working due to common Maxtor STM31000340AS problem. I followed the tutorials and info I found on the Web and all went ok, but now it still clicks and it takes a long while for bios to recognize it.

When I connect it to a PC, BIOS is not responding, but after a soft reset, it recognizes the HDD correctly. Windows 7 Hardware manager recognizes it, but u cant see the HDD in My Computer.

HDD clicks for 1 - 2 min, then 30 sec break and it clicks again. HD tune shows that SMART is ok.

During the repair - everything went fine, but there was 1 difference. Everyone wrote that usually the time between F3 2>U to Spin UP is 8-15 seconds. In my case it was over 1 minute. Maybe it is connected with the problem.

Thanks for your help guys. Sorry for my English, but its my second language.
