If the little components BENEATH the motor IC are too hot to touch, then it probably has a bad preamp, too.
The motor IC will get pretty warm normally.

A shorted TVS diode will shut down the power supply, therefore nothing will get hot.

The donor I have is Same MDL but the DCM is DSBHET2CH
Would this donor suffice provided the U12 is swapped ?
