Dear All;
Last month I bought 5 1TB external hdd from china , and i checked it their was reading 1TB with no problem but when i come back to my country and try to format it full pc hunged..
I tried to reformate it using different tools ended with no luck.
then i decided to open the case and I found Seagate ST92017AS installed . after doing some search on google found that this drive is only 20GB not 1TB ???????
even i lost my money i need to back this drive to it factory status. how can i do that? i cannot fid any ST92017AS firmware ....
please someone advise me what to do.

The label will be helpful. If you want to see if there is any unseen capacity you can try this:

I know that this is an old topic.. but I was wondering if you was able to find a way to restore the default capacity for this hdd (ST92017AS).
I just received 3 x "1TB" from china and guess what?

... they were real 20GB that pretend to be 1 TB
