HDD problem ! How to retreive my files ?

Hi, Last week while i was playing at my laptop the battery fell and the laptop shut down ! After that windows 7 didnt boot ! I tried a lot of things but nothing worked ! So i bought a new HDD and installed windows ! Everything is fine but i want my files back ! So i bought a a device where you put your HDD and it converts it to USB ! My laptop sais that the old hard drive is empty !!!! Is there any possibility i can retreive my files ?

You may use a data recovery program R-Undelete. You can try it for free in its Demo mode, in which it can perform any data recovery operation, except saving recovered files larger than 64k. What is important, you may preview files without recovering them to estimate recovery chances.
