Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post.
I have a Samsung SP1604N/R Hard Disk Drive. I use it with an external HDD case connecting to the laptop through USB. A few days ago suddenly the Hard Disk started making a "tick-tick" noise. And moreover the laptop cannot even recognize the Hard Disk now.
Now I cannot access any of my data in the Hard Disk. I have some very important work files in the Hard Disk.
How can I recover the data from the hard disk?
Thank you very much for your help.

Need a good diagnostic to determine the drive's failure(s). Best to seek pro assistance if data is more important than cost.

dont try anything on your own - each further access to the drive might destroy more
of your perhaps valuable data.
If you look for a lokal pro to help you out for a reasonable price - I suggest to
contact the forum member PCIMAGE - he is in Peterborrough.

Almost certainly heads related issues, not DIY

Was it dropped or knocked by any chance? 99/100 times this is the cause.

if are able to get it to Pro. and get the terminal log, this will help more in diagnosing it
specially in power-up
