Darik's is showing as unrecognized drives?

August 21st, 2011, 10:16

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I wasn't sure where to place my thread at.

I have Windows 7. I have an internal HDD. I also have an external HDD. No where under Windows it recognizes my external. I also tried Darik's previous versions then 2.2.6, but it was a no go. However, Darik's 2.2.6 reads it as 2 unrecognized devices, and as well as my internal. Why does it show 3 drives where I have one internal, and one external? How can I get DBAN to recognized that external, so I can wipe it? It won't even let me select my internal drive to wipe it. Any ideas? I also tried unplugging my external, but it was a no go because it still shows as unrecognized device.

Since you're not trying to recover data (which is the focus of this forum), then if I was having the problems with DBAN that you describe and couldn't fix them, then I would ask at the DBAN support forum...

FYI, trying a different external drive on that PC, or trying that external drive on a different PC, may help you to understand where some of your problems are.
