LaCie 1TB external HD failure - looking for recommendation

August 31st, 2011, 21:36

I've been lurking on this forum for some time and have learned a lot. One thing I have learned is I don't have the expertise to tackle DR on a drive that I actually care about . My now failed drive was my back up drive but I recently reformatted my hard drive to install W7 and hadn't finished copying the data back onto my laptop

It's a LaCie 1TB external US HD; the OS doesn't recognize it and it makes the dreaded clicking noise when powered on. I've only tried to power it on a couple of times for fear of making the problem worse.

I am looking for a recommendation of someone to do the recovery on this drive? If possible I would like to find someone reputable locally (Pittsburgh or Cleveland) but if that isn't possible, I am fine with shipping it. Does anyone have a recommendation of a person or company that can help?

Thanks

j

Hi,

There are a few members with a good reputation here from the US, not sure if close to Pittsburgh.
I can recommend two of them: quasimodo and jono-ats
