Swap platters ?

Hello,
I have Hitachi 1TB hdd with this model number: hdt721010sla360

I didn't find the same model but found: HDS721010CLA332
So can I use it? and what if I swap the platter with it's PCB? shouldn't that solve the model problem?

Oh and another thing, before I get in swapping the platters, can I swap te PCB first? and if it dont work go for platters but I'm worry if putting a PCB of other model can damage anything from hardware to data?

BTW the hdd is clicking and not recognised by bios, it is exremly dead.

Why on earth would you want to swap the platters?

If you had a patient with a headache, you'd transfer the brain to a new head rather than treat the problem?

thanks for the response, maybe I wasn't that clear
I have this drive dropped as high as 20cm and not is clicking and not detected by externally nor imtermally even in bios
I know that it did fall down, but not sure if something else damaged the pcb, although it seems fine to me.
thats why I want to try replacing the pcb before any further steps.

by googeling, the only way I found was to transfer the platers to a new identical one.
Do you have other solution? it will be greatly welcomed

It's necessary to do a real dignose to the drive. The platter swap is one of the last things to do to get the data back.

If you need the data, send it to someone who knows what to do.

well the post service here suXXXXXX and they will kill it for sure, so I can't send it abroad.
Locally they askedfor more than a 1000$ and NOT guranteed to work :S, also I can't afford 1000$ !!
So I have to do it my self, and all I'm asking is can I use this model: "HDS721010CLA332 " to fix this one "hdt721010sla360"??

And it is clicking, so is changing the heads is easier than changing platters?

PCB is not the problem.

This is NOT a DIY job.

Moving the platters will result in a total loss of your data.

Swapping heads will not work for you. You seem to have zero experience in this type of work and I'm guessing a lack of suitable tools and facilities.

Please do not attempt this yourself if the data is important. Any DIY effort will render the drive totally unrecoverable or very very expensive.

Sorry to be so blunt but you need to know your limitations.

If you cannot send it abroad, I think you best option is to try to discuss the price and conditions with your local DR specialist.

actually I did there is no way to do this except with 1000$, they keep telling me that they never had a client with less than 1000$

I really don't want to waste my data and I don't like the idea of DIY, BUT I have no choice except to trash it

Don't trash it just yet. Keep it safe until you have the opportunity to send it abroad for a better price.

just another thing, powering the drive while it is clicking, does make it worse? should I just don't touch it?

You could damage the platters while powering it if it clicks...
You sould'nt touch it until you have enough money !
