Dell 2850 Predictive Failure Physical Disk 0:4 - Which Drive

September 18th, 2011, 14:55

A friend has a Dell 2850 server that is used for data storage. Drives slots 0 & 1 are Raid 1 and 2-5 are Raid 5. In the event viewer (Windows 2003) there are repeated Event ID 2094 messages with a description of Predictive Failure reported: Physical Disk 0:4 Controller 0, Connector 0.

There aren't any add-in controllers that I'm aware of.

I'm an HP guy, not Dell. Is it correct to assume this is the drive in slot 4? Or is it?

To be certain, you should install the Dell OpenManage utility.

Alternatively, enter the PERC management utility by pressing Ctrl + M during startup.
