Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hello everyone. I am new to the forums and I need some major help....My fiance is a photographer and one of her SD cards just decided not to let us look at the pictures....I have tried everything including Ontrack....Here is the thing though....I am able to see the SD card on my computer but unable to access the pictures due to corrupted data I am assuming....It shows that the sd card is full but the pictures are inaccessible.
I downloaded Ontrack and when I try and use the recovery tools the SD card is not showing up in the list....I can only recover data on the C drive......Can anyone help with this?
Thank you so much.

The card shows the correct capacity? You tried a signature based recovery? In windows you can access the card and view files but are corrupt?

Yes the card shows the correct capacity on her laptop. It shows that it is completely full but when I actually go into the SD card there are like 10 pictures. When I right click on the mail folder of the SD card it says there is only 17megs in the folder....It is really fucked up...
I am trying ONtrack right now....I was able to find the sd card in ontrack because she wasnt running as admin so it wasnt showing up....
Now i have to figure out what to do....I dont see a way to repair the data at this point only data recovery...

It does. It comes up as 16 gigs...I am very confused by the entire thing to be honest....because the data is there but I just cant access it....So is it actually a recovery situation or do I just need to format it and then recover it?
I cant actually see the files....it just says that the card is full when I right click on it. When I actually go into the SD card I only see like 10 pics..... Its strange.
Any suggestions?

Do not format.
What SD card model is this?
Where did you purchase from?
How much data was there saved on the card prior to becoming inaccessible?

It was filled to the max.... 15.80 gigs of pictures. It is a Duracell SD card.

It would be good if you could post some screen shots ie disk manager & my computer etc so we can see what you see.
Also stop trying to recover from the actual device you could make it worse.
As the device is recognised by the os the best option if you can is to image the device to a file & then do the recoveries on the image. You could use self image or winhex to create an image. You could then try ftkimager & rstudio to open the image & see if either of them shows the files. testdisk download has photorec which could also be worth a look at. If you can't get a listing of the pics the a raw recovery in rstudio sorted by extension type should recover the pics but the folder & file names won't be correct as these are stored in the MFT if ntfs.
