Lock drive or it is somthing else?

October 10th, 2011, 21:48

Hi all,

I have a WD drive Model: WD5000BMVW-11AMS0. This is 2.5 drive, USB only (USB 3.0).
The probelm is like that:
When I connect the USB cable to the system, the drive doesn't spin at all.
But when I put piece of paper between the heads connection and the PCB, the drive does spin.
Niether way the system doesn't recognize the drive.
PC3000 recognize the Rom Ver and heads map.
But doesn't recognize the drive too.

I wonder if the drive has hardware lock. If so, how can be solve?

Besides, is it possible to make USB 3.0 interface to sata interface?

Regards,

Sounds like preamp, but try another PCB first.
