Seagate SATA 500 GB is not getting Detected

October 27th, 2011, 2:51

Hi All,
I am having Seagate SATA 500 GB, 7200 RPM (3.5 Inch). It is not getting detected. Every time whent I connect to my Laptop it gives 11 click sound, the disk is spinning smoothly after that. I have tried connect it to Desktop as well but same result. I have cleaned the PCB (Top) with Pencil Rubber but behaviour is same. Please HELP me on this. There is around 150 GB of Data in it which I need to back UP. Waiting for your reply...

Is it possible to repace the Platter into a new drive and recover the data ?

Platter swap is the absolute last ditch effort in data recovery you need special tools and really good skill / knowledge to perform a successful platter swap. Most likely you have bad heads again read above which is why the recovery is not DIY send it to a pro if you value the data and need it. Otherwise if you keep messing with it recovery may not be possible even by a pro.
