SP0802N recognized by different SN

November 4th, 2011, 19:43

I have a disk Samsung SP0802N recognized by different SN. When i connect to DDI start clicking and after 30 seconds become ready. Start with imaging and after 15000 sectors everything is yellow marked timeout. Test the heads with media test and they looks little weak. Is there any way to fix this one without replacing heads?

'Someone/something' played with the MC ... If they have overwritten something critical it's a mess but it is still possible to do something.

Owner of the drive says that nobody "play" with this drive.
BlackST do you have any direction how to continue.

Then it's very odd... look if the serial you get IDing is on the label "somewhere"...
Otherwise the drive was refurbished or already repaired in a bad manner. I don't see any other option.
Anyway you need to check the MC / modules for funtionality or problems. If the problem appear on regular pattern , points to heads. If not, FW. I vote on FW (1st sight) as the drive seems to calibrate regularly, but everything can be - diagnose should be simple.
