did a fresh install of windows xp on this, started messing around changing the bios password and somehow it created an HDD password and I have no idea what it is....
Anyway, I tried using Darik's Boot and Nuke but it didn't even recognize the hard drive.
My friend then recommended me to try Magic Boot Disk v2.0 I burned that to a disc, but I honestly have no idea what to do, something to do with booting windows 98? What's that about?
Anyway, I just need to get this password off and I don't care about ANYthing on the hard drive. Would just like a fresh clean start, could use all the help.
Please and thank you

Why not ask Dell ? If you are the legit owner of the NB , there should be no problem in getting assistance. If possible.

Because it's the HDD password not the BIOS password, and I bought this off ebay... I also somehow accidently changed this myself because when I first had it I knew the password now it changed to something I don't know. I just need to wipe it.

You could start by telling us the make and model number of the drive ...
Otherwise here is one commercial solution:
