ST9500420AS bricked after wrong firmware

November 28th, 2011, 7:08

Hello guys,

I have flashed wrong firmware file on my ST9500420AS HDD.
As you know now HDD is not detected in BIOS and can not be flashed through SATA.
When powered on 11 clicking voices are heard for several seconds.
So my question is can I flash firmware using serial cable?

I have attached info from serial communication with HDD (pls. see attached text file)

Any guidelines with commands or software for such firmware flashing will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Depending on what you wrote, in a nutshell data is gone.

If you want to re-use the drive, it is still possible to do something (maybe) but not by you (dedicated tools are needed).

Thanx for your reply!

I have no data on this disk. In fact it was in Seagate 0LBA/BSYfirmware bug state.
I repaired it and wanted to change firmware in order not to get in this state anymore.
So I tried to flashed it manualy with .BIN file from the Lenovo support package - fwsh33.iso.

Anyway are you talking about PC-3000 Ace laboratory tool or there is a cheaper solution by using some paid software tool?

Regards
