SAMSUNG HD501LJ

I have a Samsung HD501LJ hard drive(manf date 2008.06) making clicking noise and doesnt recognise the hdd in BIOS, I am confident that it is the PCB that cause the problem not the read/write head or the mechanical part that cause it. I have bought a 2nd hand hard drive same model with different date 2007.11 from Ebay and swapped the PCB it doesn’t make clicking noise anymore, this also doesnt recognise the hard drive in BIOS. I am pretty sure it is the PCB.

Do any of you have this similar problem?

I hope you can help me to source where to buy the PCB I need to retrieve the data.

If not do you know any professional data recovery company that offer reasonable price to recover the data maixmum price I could afford is £200.

Thanks
Gareth

pcimage is your best choice there.

I'm not an expert but does the model number on both PCBs match? Should be written in green on the circuit board itself.

Model number on PCB is of no consequence, it's the ROM info programmed into the board that is the issue when fitting a new PCB.
