Refurbished hdd`s - Questions

Dear Guys,

I just got huge stock of hdd`s some are dead/defected mixed stuff

I noticed most of them are WD hdd`s but refurbished with another Brand Name

is there any way to know its OLD Model/SN?

Mod. 02 defines the new name they assigned + another SN

how do i know its original Model/SN i wanna use them as donors, but since no info. i can use
i cannot even get the DCM all been changed.

Sorry but there is no way (oh... I know this stuff :mrgreen: ) when a new FW was put on before the refurb process . You can determine if some part suit your needs by opening them.

OR you can even try to RE-REFURB :mrgreen:

1 Use MJOG and headmap
2 Use overlay and rom version to identify the family name
3 look in rom and C5 for the family name
4 there are other modules that stores model and serial like 8069,8002,8044,8034,8032,.......
The new serial it's like the wd uses?3.5": WCA....(Thailand), WMA.....(Malaysia)

Quite useless if they put a fresh FW/purposedly made/once-fits-all all over the entire batch then recert. Maybe the only thing that was changed at the end was the serial to match label but the rest remain inconsistent.
Never seen refurb'd Maxtors or WD with one label applied over another ? Take a deeper look "inside" and.... oh oh !! :mrgreen:

mulan, u were 100% right

i was going through the 8xxx mod. and found the answer
was there, but who ever changed this, did it only 3 mod.

i was comparing my stock all similar mod. n location changes
