I am very confused. You tried to install a new OS on a drive that has important files in it?
What is the fs? HFS?

nothing wrong, i am confident but not sure user means installing preserving filesystem, like in windows new installation you get windows.old folder with prevoious datas, or maybe in a different partition.

finishing installation he found that drive was not responding and he is asking help.becouse now he realize drive is ill.
