Not sure there is a tool designed to do exactly that.

If anything, you could probably study this by creating a new pdf file, insert images in it, and then study what the structure looks lime in hex editor. Although I have not done exactly this, you may be able to manually carve up the image content and reconstruct it.

Then do the same with the corrupt file.

Best wishes.

Richard, are you really from "glasgo", and is "mekenze" really your surname?

@richardmekenze:

If the pdf file is corrupt, how do you know that the image(s) which you expect, are actually in the corrupt file that you have?

If this corrupt file has been recovered from a disk after some kind of problem, you might get a better result if you try alternative methods of recovering that file. That situation has happened to me, when helping a friend with a similar problem - I was given a corrupt (MS Office) file to try to salvage the images from, which they had recovered from a failing disk. Instead, I could recover the file perfectly from the failing disk by using a different technique to them, and solved the problem that way. :)

If you really want to try to extract the images from that corrupt pdf file, there are several options (Google is your friend) - last time I used "pdfimages" under Linux.
