iomega Ext HDD problem

January 10th, 2012, 9:36

Hello,

When I plugged in HDD's USB (2.5"), my observations:-

a) my iomega external hard drive making noise “clung… clung… clung…” noise for about 4-6 times, and the noise stopped.
b) I noticed my drive was recognized by Windows (Win 7), but there is not drive letter assigned.
c) I right clicked and "Manage" the "Computer", access "Disk Management", I was prompted with "You must initialize a disk before Logical Disk Manager can access it".
d) I clicked on "Disk 3" and selected "MBR" and click OK, then prompted with "The system cannot find the file specified" under "Virtual Disk Manager". Clicked OK.
e) Noticed "Disk 3" as "Unknown" and "Not Initialized". No drive size info and status show on right hand side beside "Disk3"
f) I Right click on the "Disk 3" and "Properties", Drive ID "ST932032 5AS USB Drive" was appeared and Device status shown "The device is working properly"....

Appreciate any kind soul to help me and advise on methods to recover my HDD.

Thanks in advance

I'd say bad heads. Nothing to do yourself i'm afraid.

You have to consult a professional in order to get your data back.
