Seagate ST3250410AS

Hi everyone. I have a Seagate ST3250410AS 250GB which has a head crash and it has marked the disk. I have sent the drive to a specialist in Data recovery they have advised me that the disk beyond repair. The only problem is that this disk belongs to a customer of mine and they have very important and valuable information on this disk and they would love it if i can recover any data from it.

So my question is this. When is a drive to damaged to get information off? and is there any way to get any information off this disk?

The drive spins up fine and there is no ticking at all the system just doesnt see the drive. is there anything i can do? or is this a lost cause?

Any advice is gratefully appreciated.

How do you know there are scratches on media surface? Did the DR company tell you so? It is strange cause you say that there are no strange noises coming from the drive (and i think bad head+media damage would produce sounds).

Generally speaking, and assuming this information is correct, it is quite difficult to get anything off these drives when there is media damage. A VERY experienced tech must see this and determine if there is a chance *some* data to be extracted. And expect mega bucks for it.

On the other hand, I still believe it is strange no weird noises arise from the drive, so I would suggest you send it off to another DR company for evaluation. Maybe no such big damage and data can be possibly recovered.

Does the specialist specialize in data recovery or is it more like a computer repair guy who claims doing data recovery?

First, what was the issue with the drive prior to sending to the specialist? Describe the symptoms.

Did the specialist provide an evaluation? What were the drive's issue or issues?
