Hitachi 1 tb p/n: 0f10383

January 21st, 2012, 20:56

I have damaged part of the PCB by allowing it to touch part of the pc case and it sparked and frazzled part of the board. Would i be be able to get the same model 1tb Hitachi drive and swap over the pcb to recover my data? Thanks.

Not without at least copying/moving over the NVRAM.

Thank you very much for your reply, please could you point me in the direction of instructions for this procedure, I think this maybe beyond my skills.

Use the search function using keywords such as "NV-RAM", "solder", " Hitachi adaptive", etc.

Plenty of info available to get clarification.

There is an 8-pin chip that needs to be transferred from your original PCB to the replacement PCB. Your local TV/AV repair shop should be able to do the soldering for you.
