A hard disc capacity question

Hello,

I have a LG NAS model N2A2DF2 4TB. It uses 2 Hitachi HDS72292 drives, each spec at 2TB capacity. Yet when I look at the unformatted capacity using the NAS interface, the capacity is shown as 1.8 TB for each or 3.6 TB combined for both drives.

Shouldn't the capacity is 2TB unformatted for each drive?

This is because there are actually two different systems used in relation to storage media, binary and decimal. Binary identifies 1 KB as 1024 bytes, while decimal identifies 1 KB as 1000 bytes.

The storage 'standard' will always use decimal
