wd pcb swap

February 23rd, 2012, 2:17

My present 1tb hdd is WD10EAVS-3257B1
PCB # 2061-701590-A00AE

I was told to replace the pcb and get a donor drive.
i have another WD 1TB hdd with slight difference in PCB
donor PCB # 2061-701590-a00ad

just a different last character"d"

my question is, can i use donor pcb on patient drive in order to get the data ?
are they compatible ?
i checked the front side of hdd and they have difffernt DCM.

Need suggestions on this.
thanks in advance.

Check your PCB for a "ROM" chip (8 legs) at position U12
