Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi,
Hope somebody on here can help me.
I was sold a couple of the above disks and they arrived a few days ago. However, I have found out that they are password protected (both user and master passwords set) and I cannot get hold of the seller to ask what passwords are or get a refund.
I am not interested in the data on them I just want use of the drives. I have tried both MHDD & HDDUnlock without success.
Is there any way I can unlock these HDDs without spending huge amounts of additional money? I have run into mention of PC3000 during lots of searching on the web and it refers to unlocking Hitachi HDDs but it seems to require a probe (and a PCI card?) and some software that I would need to purchase? Would this do and, if so, what do I need to purchase and from where.
Many thanks for any help.
Regards,
Harry.

Sean is right there where you are at. He is PCImage. I would contact him and see if he can help you out by unlocking and errasing the HDD for you so you can use them again. Without the tool it is hard to do this one. Contact him I am sure it is not too expensive if you can prove you did purchase these drives and they are yours now.

Hi Ioranna, Many thanks for that. I'd you mean Sean Kerrigan, he's in Peterborough which is about 500 miles from me. Was hoping there was a DIY solution but will keep him mind if there's no home solution forthcoming. No worries re proof of purchase if he'll accept the Gumtree ad and Paypal payment receipt as proof. Any professional with the right tools / KH can help , same "caveat" about proof of purchase as
nobody want problems. Publishing "solutions" or spreading TMI would mean potentially helping criminals , expose someone to serious legal problems and other non exactly pleasant things.
I could have been of help too but I'm even more than 500 miles away
