Thanks for the info. A screenshot would help, but just to confirm, you
are seeing the File option on the Source Device screen, aren't you? If so, then the only cause I have seen for this, is a Windows permissions-based issue. It would be interesting to see if other Windows-based cloning software behaves the same way (you could try HDClone, for example, which has a free version). The behaviour of different cloning software may help to show whether this is something about your system, or about just one piece of software. I don't have other suggestions to give at the moment, based on those symptoms and my available time. Hopefully other readers may have more ideas...
Added: Just a thought: Have you checked to see if any of the Windows event logs (specifically system & application) record anything when you run HDD Raw Copy Tool? There are other checks that could be done (e.g. adding breakpoints to Windows API calls, as I do to *nix calls) to try to see what's happening, but that's beyond what I've got time to research & then talk you through - hence why the indirect observation via looking at behaviour of other cloning software is what I've suggested, as something you could try.
