WD5000BEVT USB detected as 2Tb WD

April 24th, 2012, 4:59

Hi,

i have a WD5000BEVT-22ZAT0 WD Scorpio Blue HD attached to USb and it is not mounted netoher on windows, mac or linux. It's detected as WD 2Tb disk. Not able to access to it.

Tried TestHD and anumber of recovery softwaare but it seems that they cannot access to HD.

My hunch is that there is formware issu.

With USB device viewer it shows SN: "22222222222222222222"

Is there any way I can update/reinstall the firmware?

Thank you.

Attach the drive directly to a SATA port, then tell us what model number and capacity are reported by BIOS and/or your software.

If it is a firmware problem, then it won't be a simple matter of applying a firmware update.

You could try AFF Repair Station for a free online diagnosis:
