Using the default settings of Norton Ghost to copy (clone) any corrupt (or potentially corrupt) filesystem is a
bad plan.

Think about how Ghost decides what to copy, when using its default settings...
Also if there are any unreadable or marginal sectors, Ghost won't be the optimal copying tool IMHO (or even close!).

No! Making any changes to a potentially corrupt filesystem (as you are suggesting) is a
bad plan.

I suggest that you
stop making any further changes to your original disk. You may have a hardware fault - whether that is in the USB case which you used to hold the Toshiba 160GB disk, or that disk itself, or perhaps even somewhere else. Unfortunately I cannot understand enough from your description. However IMHO it is very high risk for you to continue making (irreversible!) changes to your disk, as you have already done, especially on a system where you are using words like "crashed" and "corrupt".
If the data is important, then consider whether you want to take the risk of (continuing to?) make things worse with further DIY actions, and perhaps to make your data more difficult or impossible to recover, or whether to get professional help.
