iOmega eGo HDD recovery

May 6th, 2012, 0:36

Hi All, I am new to this forum.

I have a strange problem here. I have 1 TB iOmega eGO Portable External HDD. Suddenly one fine day, the connector pin (with which I connect HDD to my PC through USB) of my HDD went inside the sealed case and I couldn't connect the HDD to my PC.

I took my HDD to the nearest Service Center and he told my connector chip has to be changed (I really have no idea what is it). He broke the seal and changed the connector chip & pin.

Now I am able to connect to my PC but when I connected it for the first time, it asked me to format the HDD :-(

I have many of important photographs in my HDD. I cannot format it without knowing the ways of recovery. When I ask the service center guy, he simply said, - "Format it" (WT*!!)

Could any one of you please please guide me in getting my data back??? :(

I have not formatted the HDD yet....

download r-studio and scan the drive and see if your data shows up if yes pay for program and recover your data to another drive.

Yes i second that.
Could also try FTKImager which is free

Just be aware of the risks when trying DIY.

Definitely do NOT format it. You're in Windows, right? What does the file format say under "Properties"?
