May 7th, 2012, 15:05

Dear sir,

i have Samsung 80GB IDE hard disk, few days ago, it makes CLICKING sound, then suddenly it stop working, it wont get detected, and then after few hours it wont power up, it wont spin, i feel no vibration when i power it up..its like totally dead..

then without doing any experiments, i contact a professional data recovery guy and told this whole story,

MY QUESTION IS AS FOLLOWS:

the professional data recovery guy first say that pcb board will make it work, then after 3 days he said i will change the motor, then after 4 days he say that i will exchange PLATTERS and it require 48-50 hours to change platters from damaged hdd to new hdd.and then sector by sector copying of data etc..
and now after this talk, it almost pass 4 days more, he is saying that data is still copying..

IS HE LYING ?
WHATS THE MAIN STORY ??
WAT SHOULD I DO NOW..

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME,....

thank you

he is screwing with you.. finding ways to increase the cost of recovery. 50 hours to change platters... even a blind monkey with no arms could do it quicker then that.

I like the precision, 48-50, not 40-50, but 48-50 :D

As I understand it, and since they say they're copying the data, there are two cases here:
a) They can't tell their arse from their elbow, and they will eventually tell you they failed which will end up with you having a f*cked up drive with slim chances of recovery
b) You have accepted their (I presume) increased cost now and you will get your data when they decide they 've finished with inventing new solutions to non-existant problems.

Unfortunately, most likely a)

Sorry.

EDIT: Is this professional near the place you live? Can you pay them a visit and ask them to show you your drive being processed?
