@kowalski,

What exactly do you mean by "hot swap", and what is the exact reason why you are trying to do that? Your description is ambiguous - I can think of multiple possible meanings of "hot swap"

kowalski wrote:It doesnt work now.

Please explain exactly what you mean.

IMHO you need to give lots more clear and understandable information! So far, your replies are too short, and too ambiguous. :(

@BlackST & Nick_CT - Personally, I'm not sure that the OP is talking about doing a hot-swap of the PCB on the drive (which is understandably your interpretation, I think :) ). I guess the OP might be trying to hot-swap the whole drive, and hoping to have the replacement drive recognised (by the OS? by an application?) as if it was the original drive - hence my questions above... Of course I might easily be wrong - there is so little clear info from the OP, that any interpretation is a guess!

There is a Chinese program on this forum which might be able to change SN on F3 through the serial port, however there is a chance that it might kill your drive too
Use search

We've got a custom made application that works only with one disk (the 5400.6).
It (application) doesn't have GUI. When other disks plugged it writes to LOG that it can't find proper device.

Thanks for giving some more info - so I see that in your case, the drive is effectively being used as a license.

I don't feel comfortable discussing the various technical workarounds, for what seems to be a contractual dispute between you and the programmer. With respect - through a web forum, we cannot know whether you are actually entitled to run the program on more machines, or whether you are trying to avoid paying legitimate licensing fees, to be able to run more copies. :( Of course other people might have a different view...
