Hi,

Firstly connecting a sata connection to the pcb will allow you to image the drive but the image / data will be encrypted still as you will be bypassing the encryption chip so this really wont help you too much.
Anyway for info the capacitors you would need to remove are c90, c91, c92 & c93

What you need to do is find & fit a compatible usb pcb & solder the rom at u12 from your old pcb to the donor pcb.
Match the 2060-771737-000 on the back pcb. Try contacting donordrives.com or eric_lee8341@hotmail.com to see if they have one in stock.

if you are able to get the sata pins & the drive imaged to decrypt you need another symwave board
similar to
http://www.ebay.com/itm/connector-board-replacement-4061-705089-001-for-WD-MY-BOOK-USB3-0-Hard-Drive-/300697275819?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4602f44dab
this, also a make sure to hpa the desitnation drive to have the same lba's this should decrypt your board since its has the same symwave chip for the usb controller

How does Microsoft's UVCView utility see the external drive?
http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/USB_ID ... ew.x86.exe

Does the drive behave any differently if you use a USB 2.0 cable instead of USB 3.0?

Heres some links to get a 2060-771737-000 REV A PCB
Dont forget to swap the U12 from your old PCB to the donor.

what is the SATA pinout for 771737 PCB?

& capacitors to remove?

Re: My Western Digital Passport Usb Not Re

The capacitors are C90-C93, and there are 4 plated thruholes on the MCU side of the capacitors.

thx fzabkar, can u pls mark the sata pinout for the pcb please?

here is the link of the pcb...

I also need Sata Pinout for 173761 PCB

I can't be sure of the SATA pinout, but it stands to reason that the traces would most likely go directly to the SATA connector without crossing over each other. So just imagine placing a SATA data connector across the Tx/Rx traces ...

Alternatively, locate a SATA PCB with the same MCU chip and follow its SATA traces from MCU to SATA connector. You could apply the same principles to every PCB.

See the SATA Tx/Rx pairs for the following board:
http://pcb-hdd.com/images/WD7500BPVT-60 ... V%20P1.JPG

It has the same MCU as the 771737 PCB. Now follow the same Tx/Rx pairs from the MCU on your PCB to the 4 capacitors near the bridge IC.
