wd20ears help

May 27th, 2012, 10:01

Hi all

I have a problem with my hard disk.

It is a WD200EARS, 2TB I had it connected with external usb caddy and dog passed through the office taking the cable with it, so disk fell to the floor. It was not working when it happened.\

Now disk makes strange noises and it does not show my files :( :(

It is very important to get my files back, is there something that can be done. I will pay if someone can do it for me.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, it's not a DIY case (Heads/Media damage). You will need a pro to retrieve your data.

I second recommend Northwind. The best option indeed.

Thanks all for the replies.
So there is nothing I can do myself?

I will contact Northwind, I know them, they're quite famous too. Before I take my disk to them, I think I ask if something can be done by me. But you say I can't.

Yiassou jono-ats. You greek?

+2 northwind

No, there is NOTHING you can do yourself on this case. You will only make matters worse every second it is powered on in this damaged state.

+3 for northwind. You can search his name and see what others say. They are happy they send thier drives to him and he is very much a professional with proven facts here on the forum from clients who have used him. I would suggest you to do the same

Oxi, Yianni? :P

Anyway disk came in a few hours ago, heads were completely ruined. Luckily there seems to be no media damage, we swapped heads and drive is now imaging. Going a bit slow, but we're getting there :-)

:shock:
So you think you speak better Greek than me?
Yiassou = hello (no friend)
Yianni = one of the most common greek first names
OXI = no.

Jono-ats is a well-known philhellen and he even changes his first name from Jon to Yianni (the greek equivalent).

I do not need a translator i guess.

Drive has been imaged to 95%, some bad areas apparently, but client is happy.

Will hand over new drive with data tomorrow.
