Seagate ST31000528AS 7200.12 FW: CC38 - Not detected by BIOS

June 11th, 2012, 0:06

Hi everyone, as the subject suggests I have a Seagate Barracuda 1TB drive that stopped being detected after a soft system restart.

I am currently looking for a professional who can assist in recovering the data.

-I've confirmed it's not the cables by swapping them out for cables that have been verified as functional.
-When the drive is connected and the machine is powered on, the bootup sequence and BIOS screens take long to process and once the BIOS goes through its check, it displays other drive but not this one.
-Drive powers on and makes normal startup sounds and then remains idle but is still spinning
-Running original firmware (CC38) - has never been upgraded

I've had another drive (Seagate 7200.11) display this kind of behaviour in the past which was due to the well-known BSY error.
Could this be a similar issue? Any suggestions on next steps would be appreciated, including recommendations or member offers for professional data recovery services.

Cheers, thanks in advance!
