Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Greetings all,
I am intrigued by the posts talking about commands you can send to the drive for an error code or etc... I wasn't aware you could do that. Can someone briefly describe the process?
I have the drive out of the system, I have it on a USB adapter and trying to get it to work serially. It spins and then continues to click in the exact same pattern forever. I do get a folder to appear eventually in 'My Computer' but cannot open it.
This drive has some very important info on it I really need.
Beverage of your choice to anyone who can help me.
Thanks
Mike

The only thing you can do is to seek out a pro...like Pcimage here on the forum, he's in Peterbourough.
Your drive need new heads to make it "readable" again.
