Can you post a pic of both sides of the board?

What kind of procedure do you mean?

Pictures of PCB attached

The procedure was recommended by pc3000 support staff when terminal access is blocked.

Here is message sent to PC3000 support staff:

I have a Seagate drive as per above with the following symptoms:

On power up, I can hear the motor spin up in the following sequence:
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrr rrrr rrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrr rrrr rrrr

Status lights in PC 3000 Portable are:
BSY (stays green drive does not become ready)
DRD Green
DWF RED
DSC Green
DRQ Green
CRR Red
IDX Green
ERR Red

Drive ID etc is not read.

Drive heads do not seem to be clicking - some minor soft clicking sound but not loud and chatty.

I have tried exact PCB Board swap with swapping BIOS chip but I get the same result..

I am starting to wonder if it has stuck heads but am working away from home and do not have gear to open up in clean environment. My experience is limited so someone may be able to direct me further based on the above info.

Scott

Since you have a PC3000, the procedure for determining which points to short is in there. You should re-read that section so you can solve this one without help next time.

Here are the points:

I have just checked on an seagate drive to confirm the following:

If i plug a seagate drive in to my pc3000 udma without the jumper connected
I get the same:

BSY = green
DRD = green
DWF = red
DSC = green
DRQ = green
CRR = red
IDX = green
ERR = red

If i connect the jumper to set it as master then i get:

DRD = green
DSC = green

Work checking as it might just be that simple

Just for info, WD it's the other way round

Deleted message as shorting points have already been posted.

Thanks to all for your input. Not a master issue and short did not resolve. I have sent the drives to someone with more experience.
