Unsure what status my hard drive is in??

July 9th, 2012, 5:04

Gateway Laptop. Purchased new Nov 2011. WD HDD 500 GB. The bios sees it, it spins, no clicking, but screen says "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key _

I put another hard drive in, works great. But I want to recover data off my previous drive. I prefer advice and to do it myself. I have sensitive data on it and I wouldn't sleep well with it in some stranger's hands.

Any software, books, articles, suggestions? Anyone? Thanks so much :)

Hi,

Please dont take this the wrong way but you have already asked for help on your previous post
pxe-e61-media-test-failure-check-cable-t23410.html#p157540

Multiple posts wont change the advice your given even if it is not the answer you want to hear.

To answer your questions again

1, DR companies dont have the time to look through all of your data & they are not intrested either.

2, As mentioned before as the drive is seen in BIOS then recovery souldnt be as expensive as you think. Send it in for a quote then you will know if your data is worth the cost or not.

3, You say it has sensitve data on it & wouldnt feel happy to send if away. Thats fine its your data but be warned that DIY has risks & you could lose it all. Dont put your data at risk if it is important.

I wish you all the best in what ever you decide
