Hello,
I am lexy and I am new in this forum...
Unfortunately I do not have the necessary overview to find a answer of my problem. Perhaps you can help me with my problem.
I have the WD Elements 1.5TB USB HD.
Formated in FAt32 and used with OS X and Windows 7.
MDL: WD15EADS - 11P8B2
Date: 11 FEB 2010
Controlunit: 2060-701640-007
Suddenly without any forces, the HDD wasn´t deteced by OS X and Windows. The HDD doesn´t make any unsual noises.
The the HDD starts normal but after few seconds you think the HDD works fine and than it goes slowley down...
I expanded the HDD of he USB-case and tryed to connect it with a pc via SATA as a second HDD in a system)
Unfortunately, the BIOS told me that only my systemHDD isn´t detected and the SATA2 (SATA1 -primary HDD)row is empty (empty is not equal nothing. normaly there is a word like [AUTO], but instead of AUTO there is nothing...).
In the PC-System the WD-HDD sounds actually very normal...
Of course, my data on this HDD is for me very imported so what do you think can I try with software, hardware etc.
I am open for every ideas to get the data out of this drive.
Do anyone have experience with this situation?
Thank you very much.
Please let me know, if you need more informations about the HDD
Lexy

If you HDD is not clicking when it is spinning down then you can only try one thing. Remove the PCB and clean the contacts on this one and try and put it back on. If this one does not work it is an internal problem for you and needs higher advanced tools to determine this problem and free tools will not work for you.

you mean the problem could be the PCB? Or the Firmware on it?
What for higher advanced tool do you mean? Do I need a new PCB, and where can I get this in the case, that the cleaning doesn´t work?
Thank you

poehere means that if cleaning the pcb does not solve the problem (most likely it won't), then there is some internal mechanical problem and there is nothing you can do with it. In that case, you 'd need to consult a pro to get your data back. Sorry.
PS. We keep on receiving WD Green's with BSY problem. This is a new menace, i guess...

And each one is a case by itself (here in my experience). Bad. You get what you pay, it seems.

Exactly. Well there is a pattern in particular fault (to be precise, two patterns) but the solution is never the same
We're R&D'ing on this...

Hey Lexy, Its been a while since i search online to find a drive with these specification:
WD15EADS-11P8B2
Made in Malaysia
MFG date: 05 APR 2010 (or something close to this day!)
and then I realized your post here. Now here is a deal. My HDD in hand is for friend of mine and it was an external HDD. She dropped it from the table and the head gone bad. everything else about this Drive is fine (PCB) I was hoping for a while that I can find a drive like this to purchase and use it to retrieve her pictures ( she asked me to do it ) and if you ask me if I have done such a procedure I say YES and I was able to change HDD's head. I know its a very precise job and that why god created me

))) (joking) Anyways. I thought maybe we could do something interesting here and that is that most likely if your HDD does not spin up and does not click, it is more likely the PCB has failed on you. If you don't have anything important on that, I am willing to buy it from you and you can ship it to me, or if you like to retrieve your data, you can send it to me and I retrieve your data for free using my PCB in hand (which is the match to yours) first and then I use your HDD's head to retrieve my friend's information. I live in Los Angeles. If you live here I can meet you somewhere to get the HDD (if you agree of course) or if you live in another state I can send you a shipping label and everything so you ship it to me (again if you agree with this plan). what do you think? Let me know Thanks

This is not huge problem, you need one pcb for that hard, and replace ROM to donor, and see what is gone one. If same situation that means 2 options, you replace wrong ROM, or you wrote ROM from your seek pcb with errors to donor
