Next step - what do you advice? - WD10EAVS-00D7B0

Hello,
I need a little advice to be able to proceed with my HDD

I have a Western Digital WD10EAVS-00D7B0 with a burn logic board Fortunally I recived a "new" board from a donor drive with excatly the same spec.

I replaced the board and powerd up the drive - the drive started spinning but the heads began to make ticking noises. tik tik tik.........tik tik tik....... ((

I have been reading and found out that there is not U12 ROM to move from the one drive to the other drive in this version. My question is not what do you advice me to do ?

It seems that the motor contoller U1 is burnt as the only part.

1. Should I replace the motor controller with the one from the donor drive ?

2. Or is it better to get the Marvel U5 updated with special tools ? I think that the ROM data is stored in this IC.

3. Is there any other nice advice that I can try out ?

You will need a pro to move or rebuild ROM info on a new PCB.

Regarding my soldering skills this schould be all right as I am skilled and I have access to the right tools

My qustions are if I should go for changing the motor controller from the new board to the old burnt board ? My problem is that I am not sure - where the ROM data is stored, are they located in the U5 (Marvel) IC or is this information stored on the drive ?

Not to sound stupid but I am new into this, where is the preamp fysically located ? On the head stack or on the PCB board ?

Okay guys, thank you all for the advices.

I am a little wiser now and I must admit that I will surrender and have the repair done at a pro workshop.

I called a workshop here in Denmark and they are able to help me they say, after a little coversation it turns out that they don´t have a cleanroom them self and that they ship the items to UK for repair them self like an outsourcing job.

My concerns and worries is to get caught by "amateurs" who think and say that they have a solution for me and then uses other companies them self. Thats the reason why I am still searching for the "real-deal" to help me out.

My question is now - do you have any experience with the company XYTRON in the UK ?
As I understood there is no clean room facilitys here in Denmark and every company ships the units out of the country for repair. Do you know other of these companys than XYTRON that you can reccomend ?

It seems that my preamp is gone and the complete headstack has to be changed - is it 100% nessesary that this is done in a clean room ? Or could I find a local repair shop here in Denmark who can do it with special tools?

Cleanroom might not be necessary, but dealing with a pro would be highly recommended.
