recently my Xp windows was corrupted . when i again started windows installation it gives blue screen error after the display of making partioning screen during xp installation process. i thought it may requires complete format but as i used a thierd party software like Hiren boot CD it gives the message of Hard disk 64: i/o error durring the use of partitioning tool option in HBCD. need help

Some time ago I had an error similar to yours. Afer passing the POST test, the computer issued the following message:

Booting from Hard Disk...
Disk I/O Error

In addition, Paragon Hard Disk Manager was unable to repartition/erase my drive. It failed with an unrecoverable error. The problem was the beginning of the hard disk was overwritten with an image of a floppy disk (a FAT12 file system over a NTFS) when performing a backup of those floppy disk to a disk image due to a severe bug of the imaging tool.

I solved this problem by performing a zero-fill of the disk. You can use, for example, the excellent Parted Magic boot disk or the DBAN boot disk. Both tools are freeware.

I'm aware of that and I'm pretty sure the OP too, because he/she said the following:

So he/she tried to format/repartition the drive with no success. I was in the same situation as him/her and I solved in this way. Of course, he/she could clone the disk to another drive before attempting destructive tasks, and naturally, I would recommend that.

Right, to clarify, my reply is targeting new inexperienced readers who would think that is a solution when it is really not, as the OP posted in the "data recovery and repair" section.

Blue screen after trying to format the HDD using the CD OS Windows to reinstall windows can mean a few things.

You MB could have issues; your HDD has major problems and needs a new one; your memory is giving you problems. On an install this can happen. Read the blue screen and see what it is indicating on this one. It should help you to determine closer your problem.

You may also pull your HDD out and put it on another system and run MHDD or you can even run MHDD on your corrent system. See what this says for you about your HDD.
