Hello, i've this Seagate
ST1000DL002 with burned PCB.
PCB number is
100617465 REV BI'm going to
repair it with wire wrap and capacitor substitution (but i don't know it's value), someone does it know the value of the capacitor indicated in the pic?
There are also 2 destroyed fuse, but i don't care because i'm goin to substitude them with wire wrap,
i nedd your help for the capacitor value. Does any of you know the value?Thank you.

If you not sure which parts are needed, get a new PCB.

I just need to know the capacitor value, and i can bypass the 2 microfuse with wire wrap.
I don't care if the pcb will burn more, in case i buy a new one.
I have soldering iron, hot air soldering gun, multimeter, capacitor tester, wire wrap and a lot of practice in SMD micro electronics

I substituted the capacitor with onother of 10uF (micro farad).
Instead of 2 microfuse i put 2 wires (one cannot even see in the pic), rebuilding at the same time the tracks burned.

Repaired

I substituted the capacitor with a good 10 uF capacitor and the TVS 5 volt diode.
2 microfuse are impossible to substitute, so i put 2 wires.

Hi Michael,
Congrats on your HDD recovery. Thankfully, I ran into this post after my HDD PCB failed a few months ago, with the exactly same blown caps.
I replaced the SMD caps, but the motor still isn't spinning. You mentioned micro fuses; can you tell me where they are please?

Look at the 2 red arrows, those two are microfuse
Don't forget to check the 2 tvs diodes and the mosfet, look at the pic in the bottom.

However, I'm still not so sure of the microfuses. The arrows you put point to the two SMD caps I've replaced...

It would help if you explain how you decided that they are capacitors.
If they are in series with the +5V supply, which they seem to be on that photo (you'll have to check yourself, since you have the PCB in your hands and I don't!) then they
cannot originally have been capacitors.

Doh! Yeah, I hastily confused the black microfuses with SMD caps.
I haven't realized that these black things were fuses; I didn't know they even exited!
Warming up the soldering iron again...

Check for continuity by using multi-meter, put multi-meter in continuity mode. Connects the terminals of meter to either ends of micro fuse, if it bad continuity will not be shown.

I do not speak English.
I'm from Brazil.
My HD spoiled / damaged
I use a case for HD.
Someone connected cable notebook 19 volts.
My case uses 12 volts.
Two capacitors burned. I will post photo.
THAT HAS REPAIR? THIS IS SOLUTION?

Remove the 12V TVS diode. It will be shorted.
