Too many bad sectors, can recovery any datas?

July 31st, 2012, 9:37

Good afternoon

I have a problem with one of the drives and I need a little of your knowledge and your advice.

For 2 years I have external WD HDD, rather mybook essential. 1 month before I decided to open the case. I took him out and the IDE connection on the mobo.

The drive that was inside is the WD Caviar SE WD3200JB - 00KFA0.

So .. I put the cable on the dvd, and as a slave to the master dvd, and vice versa and alone on the IDE. (I've tried on other computers with no result)

In the BIOS shows but with the factory's name. As WDC ROM MODEL-BUCCANER.
[note] Every time I reboot and I have the drive connected, the computer slows to open more than 3-4 minutes, when showing the flag of Windows XP (By the way I have Win XP pro 32bit). If you remove the drive, moves much faster at that point. [/note]

In OS the drive appears only in the device manager with the factory's name again. But nowhere else. Not in My computer, not in disk management of WinXP.

At the advice of a friend I ran live linux cdaki but without result.

Also, HDD sentinels display the capacity but its still unknown.

Data recovery programs I've tried:

Easyrecovery professional
Partition Magic 8
Active File Recovery
NTFS Recovery
Stellar Phoenix NTFS Data Recovery
And the WD Data Diagnostic

Most of them, when i did recovery scan told me that the operation was terminated for an unknown reason. (Or by the host)
The rest, just started to do scan and recovery .. but it never ends. Specifically, stellar phoenix, with mathematical calculations, would end in 2739 years!
See also one of the Easy Recovery Professional.

Has given me the least time of all. 19 years!

Someone told me that it can have many bad sectors the disk and therefore can not be a "fast" accessible "
I suggested the HDD regenerator. It Scan and repair bad sectors. Set it to do a quick search for bad sectors.
And yes! finished within half an hour. Almost everything was bad sectors .. After I put to make the repair sectors has found. Of the 625,000,000 million sectors of the disk, within 24 hours once corrected .. 200!

Money for data recovery company did not exist. The need for data, great. So I want to try to end and I need advice. Advice and knowledge ..

What else is left to try anymore;;

Really, any help is welcome and useful!

Thank you,
George

You may have other issues, not just bad sectors.
Need a professional evaluation.

Drive shows as factory alais in your BIOS is not necessary bad sectors on this one. You drive has other issues that needs to be check by a person who has the proper tools to do this one and can work on repairing the internal problems of the HDD that you can not do. Sorry

it's MUCH WORSE than "bad sectors" - Pro help needed and game over for experiments, sorry.

Bad sectors were a SYMPTOM, the "WDC ROM-BUCCANEER" is the consequence (outcome).

Happy to take a look if you want, but if there is internal damage to mechanics (very likely) then it will not be cheap. These drives, additionaly, have alignment issues, so it won't be easy. Good luck.

PS. Hdd regenerator and a trillion recovery programs you have tried on the disk, might have killed it for good. If you care about data, do not try something you don't know what is really doing.

ΥΓ.

Agree, alignment issues can be pretty nasty on these :-(
