worth every single cent invested on it....

Depends on the purpose. For a stiction job for example stick it on DDI and after watching it for a few mins just walk away. However, for everything else I think DE is way more efficient. I use my DDI more for wiping drives than for imaging actually...

spending too much on this (WIPE), is really a waste of $$$$

You're missing my point. I use it wipe more than to image, because I prefer to image with DE for most cases. DDI is a great imager, but after a head swap on a drive with say media damage, I never put it on DDI, only on DE and pick off what I need. I've tried using the network add-in and became frustrated with it and haven't tried again as DE does all of what I want. I'm saying that DDI is a great tool for a lot of applications, but I find the efficiency of DE unbeatable.

If I could choose 5 tools, I'd have 4x DE and 1x DDI. Sometimes you'll find certain drives just won't work on DDI. Stick them into DE and no problems. DE is more versatile in my opinion.

We'll agree to disagree I don't mind, what works for me works for me.

Any reason you're using "clone" mode rather than "imaging" on that screen?

DDI and DE both have their pros and cons, like people are generally saying.

It very much depends on the type/make of drive and the original problem as to which I use for any given job.

Luckily I have several DE machines, and several DDI so can pick & choose

Currently playing with a new DDI4 that came today with all the trimmings, including some new interesting gadgetry and software updates. Very impressed so far!

Well, just got it few days back, and was testing n comparing it with my DE and how they treat bads

Answering your Q about Why DDI? why not DE

Well, i recently getting many many cases of most DB files with MANY bads in hdd which i cannot work around with DE
so for many bads on big DB file you either loose DB RECORDS or damaged DB

in addition, the main other reason is cloning Smartware HDD`s with bad/weak condition heads

those are the most 2 reasons of buying it...

and sure 4 is much better/faster than 3 (after asking many people who used both btw)

I can't see how DDI is better than DE when you can configure DE any way you want. Maybe there is a difference in speed? DE can clone disks not even detected such as Seagate, Hitachi etc.

Saying that I've never used DDI but I still can't see how it can do things better.

For the money involved, I would rather pay the extra for PC3000 and DE.

We've achieved over 100 MB/sec.

I'm thinking of getting one, Does the target drive connect to esata or sata? Can you guys take some pics showing the connections?

Not to downplay DDI in any way, because I have to admit that is a great product based on my own experience with ver. 3, but I have used and still use eSATA occasionally for higher speeds over USB 2.0 for data transfer to externals and at times eSATA based devices loose connectivity with the system. Really hope that will not be an issue with ver. 4.

SATA for destination drive, hardly ever is a problem.
