A-Data Classic CH94 750GB USB Data recovery

August 24th, 2012, 10:03

I am facing a problem with my external USB hdd. One day I tried to "safely remove" the hdd by using the corresponding windows 7 utility "Safely remove hardware and eject media". It was not possible because windows said the disk was in use, but the light on the hdd wasnt flashing. So I decided to just unplug it as I have done it before and nothing has happened, yet.

Today I connected it again and it says: "G:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

I tried using the chkdsk utility, but it was no good.

The disk info.
Image

Tried to start chkdsk under the "tools" tab but no luck.
Image

Then I decided to use Active@ Partition Recovery v5.3.0.717 to see what it can do.
Image

As you can see on the following screenshot it lists the hdd's main directory folders, but it doesn't show anything inside these folders (doesnt show folders nor files inside any of the main directory folders).
Image

Although it shows in the hdd's properties the used and free space of the disk.
Image

Afterwards I tried to scan the hdd for deleted or damaged partitions.
Image

And this was the result of the scan.
Image

I chose the "recover" option and the following window opened.
Image

After that it said it successfully recovered the partition.
Image

After all this I tried to open the disk from "My Computer", but still an error appears, but this time different.

If someone knows what to suggest for me to try, please let me know. I really need my data back. Thankyou in advance!

Hi,

First of all, check if your drive is not doing any odd sounds.
If it is, stop it and take it to a pro.
If not, get any recovery app and use it to check your drive.

If no errors in SMART, use DMDE to scan it (NTFS or FAt).
If bads - clone it first, then DMDE (on copy).
