Data recovery from dying Hitachi

Hello,

My laptops's 750gb Hitachi drive developed huge amount of bad sectors probably due to heat.

Hard Drive is under warranty, so I want to recover much as data as possible & send it to service.

But everytime I try to copy a file with bad sector, computer hangs & I have to restart.

I tried to repair using HDD Regenerator, but it found more than 30,000 bad sectors in 30 hours & it looks like it will never stop.

Is there another way to recover some files?

I think if your data is valuable you should stop working with it, to avoid further damage, and go to a pro that can make a proper diagnosis and quote you.
Every software you find on the internet will have the same problem as HDD Regenerator.
There are some special tools for imaging, but costs a very high price for 1 recovery.

There are a couple of ways, but it depends on how badly you want to recover as much as possible.

The most important thing first is making sure the drive only has bad sectors. So, a good solid diagnostic is best.

If you want a DIY solution, then you can look into ddrescue or DMDE for example. However, these will not provide the highest chances of success. Additionally, it is possible that these may not work at all and potentially worsen the drive's condition. So, be aware of the risks. You will need other resources such as a reliable machine and a couple of more drives to clone and extract data to.

If you consider a pro with the right tools for such as job, then a hardware imager is what is necessary to maximize chances of recovering as much as possible.

Stop diagnosing, start cloning. There are free tools like Rstudio Demo, DMDE (to uncompressed image or physical drive), couple others as well. Stop file copying from your operating system, forget it. Boot the utility from CD or USB stick, and keep going...
