Can someone confirm if a PCB with the same controller chip number and motor combo chip number will work with my faulty drive or do I need to look for other criteria? I have sourced one but it is a different capacity to my drive and I am unsure if that makes a difference with these old drives.
The PCB has blown on the one I have when the client decided to use the wrong power supply with it. Fingers crossed the pre-amp chip hasn't gone as well :-/

For this model just match the 6 digit code at the rear of the HDD, should look something like AVQ1 0520
This should be ok

Cheers Loki, I saw that but the only thing that threw me was the code, this one doesn't have a code, everything else is relevant though.

D740X-6L were old QUANTUM technology.
As long as they are same series AND there is no "variants" there should be no problem. Really bad news would be if data is still un-accessible or when you power it up and hear "CLUNK-K-K-k-k !"
