Hi so my drive got corrupted last night I reformatted it this morning and I used WinHex to go into the drive to look at my old data that is still in the free space section of the drive, but im not sure how to recover it.
Usually I can see the files that I am able to recover but this is gone and i can only see the raw data. any ideas on how I can recover it?

It doesn't sound like you did the prep work for a manual attempt at file carving prior to formatting like
Making an image, Noting the data in the Bios Parameter Block (BPB) of the boot record so you can get drive data and location of the MFT (assuming NTFS since you are using Winhex), etc...
You should try an automatic solution.
Free version of Recuva (easiest Windows based solution and not a demo that makes you pay to get the data). Here's a tutorial...

Yep, a good question is: do you have experience using winhex?
Also, if you have paid license they will explain that also.
