My dying HDD - Please help me commit eutanasia on it

Hello,

First of all I'm all new to this boards, so i would like to say Hi to everyone. Im kind of a noob when it comes to HDD-s, never knew too much about them, only used them as i needed them. All my hope is this forum, so please help a noob out.

So, here is the story:
I got a 2.5" WD 5000BEVT which is nearly 3 years old and started to be extremely slow, instable. Made my Mac freezing all the time. I started googleing and found i should repair disk permissions in Disk Utility, where i also made a Verify Disk. It didnt completed telling me the disk is injured and have several errors. I immediately took it out and put in a Windows machine where i checked HDD Sentinel which said my HDD has 10% Health and circa 40 days left in its life span.
LUCKILY, i still had warranty on my HDD so i happily took it back hoping for a solution.
After 2 weeks of waiting for my HDD to be repaired they emailed me and told me the HDD is 100% fine after an intensive test. I said WHAT? How could this be possible. Are these diagnostic utilities cant be trusted or what im missing.

Now what i planned out is make something to the HDD to reach 0% life and make it 100% unusable so they cant tell me that. I know its dying, it only a matter of (short) time. And my warranty wont last too much longer.
How should i "brake" it withoud voiding the Warranty?

1. HDD Life prediction programs are not always accurate, you drive might be perfectly fine and could live happily ever after for a looong time
2. It might be better to use official WD utility to get an official conclusion first
3. 5 seconds in microwave should kill a drive (use this as a last chance only)

Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated!
Will try the official stuff for sure, but im guessing thats what they also used to test my drive. Wouldnt the microwave oven trick void the warranty? Will it leave any exterior damage which from they could tell what i just did to it? I red about let it spin to its highest rate and then plug off and smash to the table, but thats risky because it may be detectible. Not sure what to do. I can feel it dies slowly...noticebly slower than before...

If they don't want to replace the drive - nothing would stop them from doing that
They can find a molding defect on the base and call it "impact damage"

Do the WD utility, if it says - drive is bad, then you go to the service center with the results

Today i got my HDD back. I dont know how, i just noticed there is a dent on it.



It also does clicks and not recognized by any OS. Tried with External housing and also internally mounting it. It just slicks like hell.
Will take it back tomorrow. I dont know how that dent got on it since i did nothing to it. (Hard to believe i know, but honestly now that it is dead im not that happy at all.)
